A new exciting project is heading for Havant with the start of the new Soul-Vant dance group.  James Page from Soul Patrol will be leading a group of young men to create a boxing/dance fusion, using hip-hop and break-dance to create a boxing-inspired dance piece.

Using street, break and air-born dance techniques, the first season of this exciting new group will work alongside the established Boxing club. Learn to Box, Dance and Choreograph with James Page and George Beattie and help us to beat down the stereotypes and set new rules about male dance on the south coast.  The Safer Havant Partnership is pleased to support this exciting project.

Get involved!  Havant Borough Youth Council

Havant Borough Youth Council logo

Havant Borough Youth Council (HBYC) was launched in 2002 to give the young people of Havant Borough a voice within their community. Since then HBYC has gone from strength to strength with Youth Council members regularly meeting with the providers of services and projects to influence and inform how they can best be delivered. Havant Borough Council recognises the importance and benefit of listening to Children and Young people to change, improve and introduce new services.

Any young person, living, working or learning in Havant Borough and who wants to have a say in what goes on in their community can get involved in Havant Borough Youth Council. HBYC meets regularly every month either formally or informally to discuss how their ideas and opinions can get heard.  It’s not all hard work we do have lots of fun. There are regular social events such as meals out and residentials to activity centres which are a great way of making new friends and discovering skills that perhaps you never knew you had.

If you are aged between 11 and 21 years and are interested in improving the lives of all young people within your community and would like to know more why not get in contact. We are currently looking for new members from across the borough.  Our award winning website www.youthbeat.net is shortly to undergo reconstruction and we are especially keen to hear from young people who would like to become part of this exciting project.  “The youth council has really developed my confidence and has made me a more outgoing and social person” Matt aged 16 years.  “Youth Council has really made me feel that I get a say in what happens in society” Harry aged 12 years.

For more information on becoming part of Havant Borough Youth Council contact Tracy Vear on 023 9244 6625 or email tracy.vear@havant.gov.uk
